About the event
Lecture Overview:
Grip and Release: Primary Reflexes and Their Impact on the Wrist and Hand
This lecture will explore lesser-known connections between retained primary reflexes and difficulties affecting hand motor skills.
Primary reflexes are automatic motor responses that emerge during early development and are gradually inhibited within the first year of life as the nervous system matures. However, if these reflexes persist beyond their expected integration period, they can negatively impact biomechanics, posture, sensory integration, and motor functions. These dysfunctions may also manifest in the wrist and hand, influencing fine motor control and dexterity.
